11/2005

Chilean authorities have arrested Peru's former president, Alberto Fujimori, on November 7th, 2005 after a few hours from reaching the capital, Santiago based on a request from the government of Peru.

After ruling Peru for a period of ten years, from 1990 to 2000, Fujimori found asylum in Japan, his ancestors' homeland, to shy away from the scandal that has destroyed his government.

In case he is extradited to Peru, Fujimori will face a series of accusation, including political corruption and political responsibility for the extrajudicial execution of 25 persons including a child on the hands of security forces in the early 1990s.
