Egypt: "Press right to criticize the governmental acts and the issues concern the public opinion"

      The crimes court of Cairo assured the right of press to criticize the governmental acts and to express its views on the issues concern the public opinion as long as the journalist has good intention and does not target from expressing his\her view but the productive critic even if he\she was wrong.

     The court stated that" The law allows the journalist to publish the news for accomplishing the media profession, and the press has the right to criticize and express opinion regarding issues of public interest and the article"47" of the constitution stated that the self and productive criticizing is a guarantee for the safety of the national body. The court assured that the law clarifies the journalist on one condition "good intentions".

     This is included in the sentence in the case of the Journalist of Al-arabi newspaper" Magdy Al- Basiouny" Who has been accused of insulting an employee in the agriculture ministry in a series of reportages on the spoiled poisonous chemicals in the laboratory of food analysis"
