10/3/2005

The Kuwaiti parliament agreed yesterday the 7th of March 2005 to the governmental demand to finish discussing the law project guarantees the Kuwaiti woman's political rights, but it did not state a definite date for this discussion. This agreement came directly after a demonstration in front of the parliament house in which there were more than 600 persons, the majority of which were women along with some liberal men sympathized with woman's rights.

The demonstrators raised signs say "Woman's Rights Now", "Justice, freedom and equality the backbone of communities" and "Nothing in the Islamic Shari'a against woman's rights".
The demonstration was surrounded by heavy security presence.
Despite of the opposition from many parliamentarians, the indicators points that the Kuwaiti woman is about to maintain her political rights
