Egypt: Verdict to release 15 detainees in North Sinai

1st of January 2005

On December 28, 2004 the South Cairo Court has finally approved to accept the appeals presented by the detainees of North Sinai, concerning the Coercive resolution made by Security forces. The Court released a cancellation verdict to 15 imprisonment resolutions that had been issued to them.

Many NGOs and Lawyers have organized a solidarity campaign with those detainees.

After the Bomb explosions that took place in Taba, Nuweiba' and Shitan Camps, The Security Forces had arrested more than 3000 citizens from Al-Arish and the surrounding villages, The National Security office had always been full of 100-150 citizens to be interrogated and sent to Prison, and so on. Many of them were reported tortured, and that totally violates with the Right to Freedom, Life and personal Security granted by the Egyptian constitution and all International Human Rights Treaties and Covenants.
