Three human rights activists were kidnapped in the process: Adel El Mashad, member of the Egyptian Association against Torture, Emad Mubarak, director fo the institution for freedom of thought and _expression and Ayman Ayad, general coordinator of the legal aid association for human rights, in addition to Hossam El Hamalawy, LA Times correspondent in Cairo.

The human rights delegation was chased and violently forced out of the Garden City and Qast El Aini area. Hossam El Hamalawy was soon released after smashing his camera.
