    Establishment of Arab league for Academic Liberties
    Activities of institutional conference of Arab league for Academic Liberties was concluded as 35 academic professor belong to 17 Arab countries had participated. The conference discussed the basic system and the league's strategies document. The conference also called for assuring the independence of the Arab universities and freedom of scientific research through establishing appropriate legislations, clearing hurdles which block its development, raising awareness and enriching cooperation among Arab universities by orchestration with UNISCO and Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization ISECSO. It is worthy to mention that since the convention of the first conference of the Arab League, Amman Center for Human Rights Studies was preparing for the establishing conference of the league.

    Tunisia
    ========
    League of Defending Muhajjbat stated in its statement that manager of Higher Institute for Technology (Benzert) had directed a warning for veiled girls of the institute as not to wear the veil, which breaks articles of the constitution. Also the Tunisian government kidnapped the activist Ali Al-Waslany on April 7th, 2008. It is worthy to mention that Ali is one of the activists in the Tunisian League for Defending Human Rights as his detention was on his participation in supporting the families who were set-in before the National Security Center (Benzert) ] Bou-Katfa[ that his family doesn't know what is going to happen to him.

    Syria
    ========
    Detaining and persecuting Syrian activists is still the title of Syrian government violations against human rights. This week witnessed the Court of Cassation judgment issuance in Damascus by virtue of which it ratified judgment issued by Criminal Court in Damascus against Syrian opponent Dr. Mohammed Kamal Al-Labwany of 12 years imprisonment on charges of "conspiring with a foreign country and communicating with it in order to provoke direct laid aggression on Syria".

    First military crimes court in Damascus witnessed the persecution session of Dr. Mohammed Kamal Al-Labwany on charges of circulating lies that could undermine the nation's morale, based upon sayings he told to prisoners in Adra's jail. High State Security Court in Damascus also sentenced the writer and poet Feras Saad for 4 years imprisonment on charges of circulating lies that could undermine the nation's morale. Saad is an opponent writer from Lattakia that his writings was characterized by criticizing autocracy, calling for transparency and reforms as he was detained at the start of November 2006.

    Palestine
    ========
    Palestinian Center for Human Rights called the Palestinian Authority to nullify the law of capital punishment after the high court had sentenced one of the Palestinians to capital punishment on his killing of another Palestinian citizen. In Sunday session held on April 6, 2008 in the district headquarter, Jenin, The Palestinian High Military Court sentenced 23 years old citizen Thaer Mahmoud Housny Romailat, to execution by shoot. Romailat is one of Zanaba suburban inhabitants which located in the eastern of Tolkarm city.

    The session was chaired by judge Ahmed Al-Mebiad to consider the case of the killed Alaa A'aiesh Mubarak who was one of the national security elements that the court sentenced the killer Thaer Mahmoud Housny Romailat who is one of military intelligence elements to execution by shoot. This judgment is subject to appeal and the chairman's ratification.

    Lebanon

    Rased announced its need for volunteers who can work on reducing hazards that Palestinians are exposed to, and discovering increased violations in Gaza strip which escalated heavily, besides defending the human rights of Palestinians in Lebanon especially for those living in camps.

    Morocco
    ========
    Moroccan Association for Human Rights perpetuated the memory of the World Day for Health just to be on April 7th. The Association considered it as an occasion confirms commitment of the Moroccan state in regards to rightfully dealing with health as protecting and progressively in accordance to international charters of human rights that ahead of it is: the international charter of economic, social and cultural rights. This international charter stated that the right to enjoy health, needs a system of health protection that all citizens can use equally, in addition, it needs enough facilities, Medicare, medicines, services and programs to be available for all with no difference.

    Egypt
    ========
    In the last few days, Egypt witnessed very complicated situations such as Mahalla workers protests because of high prices that the police forces used rubber bullets and tear gas grenades against the protesters, besides arresting some of them. Opposition parties representation was limited as the Muslim Brotherhood withdrew from the elections because a number of its members were detained, that many of them were not allowed to run into elections because of their being of the strongest competitor for the National Party. Some organizations discovered cases of explicit rigging and forgery that were committed for the National Party's good as some of the organizations' representative were arrested in the balloting stations.
