Fourth year 22 February 2007 - 28 February 2007 Bahrain ======== Freedom of Expression Continuous attempts to choke facts and defaming activists are extended to the head of Bahrain Human Rights Center. An editor wrote an article accusing the head of Bahrain Human Rights Center with treason and the Prime Minister praised the article. The General Secretary of Haq Movement and director of Bahrain Human Rights Center are facing up to 15 years in prison. Bahrain Human Rights Center call for setting freedom of expression free and stop pursuing human rights advocators and political activists because of their opinions. That requires crucial amendments in the Penal Code in accordance with human rights international standards. The center also called for stopping the governmental attempts to prevent information exchange on Al-Bandar gate. Tunisian League for Human Rights reported on the case of Galal Al-Zaghlamy who is deprived of his right to work as a lawyer after dropping the charges against him during the last years. On 19 February, the government executed four Seri Lankan natives and expoed their dead bodies to the public. The first press release covered the hearing session held on 25 February 2007 and concluded with sentencing some suspects to imprisonment. The other press release commented on the try of activist Anwar El- Bunni. Al-Mizan Center for Human Rights issued a press release to condemn the frequent incidents of killing civilian females. Palestinian Center for Human Rights issued a press release on the same topic, and a separate press release on the Israeli military operations in Nablus. It summarizes the conclusion of fact-finding mission to Ayatt. The mission moved this week to another village in Demmitta to report on the brutal search for a young man. When the police did not found him in his house, they tried to arrest his father and brothers. Al-Nadim Center delegates then traveled to Alexandria to follow up Torture case claimed against policemen by the victims who were tortured in police stations to pay money for the policemen to let them work peacefully. In Gamgara village in Banha, the police forces randomly arrested a large number of citizens and did not announce the reason behind this. Military Tries 209 intellectuals, writers, and activists from all over Egypt and the Arab world issued a press release to condemn and reject the regime's decision to put dozens of Muslim Brotherhood leaders to military trials. This way they will be prevented from their right to be present before their natural judge. The association announced that it is ready to offer all possible ways to support them. In pursuit of the real reconciliation, according to Transmission Justice law, Moroccan Association for Human Rights issued its detailed press release on secret prisons and victims of torture in Morocco.
